LONDON CLUB CULTURE
London loses venues faster than it opens them, and the coverage of that tends to arrive either as an obituary or as a listing. This is the middle: what is open, what is closing and why, what the big rooms are really like once you are inside them, and which nights are worth the door.
The reporting here is first-hand wherever it can be. House of MNEEMO runs nights in this city, so the pieces come from the booth and the floor rather than from a press list: the sound in a specific room, the crowd a specific promoter draws, whether a new site is a venue or a field with a stage in it.
It covers the structural story too, because the two are the same story. A city that keeps replacing four-hundred-capacity rooms with fifteen-thousand-capacity warehouses is a city changing what a night out means, and that shows up in who gets booked, what they play and what it costs to stand there.
