Best Sound System in a London Club 2026: Every Room Ranked by a DJ
fabric has London's best club sound in 2026, The Box one of the newest rooms and Palais the most bass per head. Every system named, compared and ranked.

The best club sound in London in 2026 is at fabric: a Martin Audio Room One over a vibrating floor rebuilt in January 2025, and two smaller rooms re-engineered by NNNN Audio in April 2026. The best single room is Ministry of Sound's The Box, rebuilt around KV2 Audio in January, and the most bass per head is at Palais in Peckham, which runs thirteen Funktion-One subs, ten of them BR118s, for 500 people. Four London rooms got new or rebuilt systems between January and April this year, and nobody has put them side by side. Here is which room has which system, according to the venue, the maker or the trade press, and my ranking. Where a venue has not said what it runs, I have not guessed.
The ranking at a glance
- 1. fabric: every room re-engineered since 2024, and a floor you feel.
- 2. Ministry of Sound, The Box: one of the newest main-room systems in London.
- 3. Palais, Peckham: the most sub for the size of room in the city.
- 4. FOLD: a four-point Funktion-One room built for long sets.
- 5. XOYO: the Void basement, retuned for the January reopening.
- 6. Phonox: one floor, one Funktion-One, one DJ all night.
- 7. E1 and Onyx: warehouse-scale Funktion-One in Wapping.
- 8. Drumsheds: the best big-room sound, which is a different job.
Every system, side by side
| Room | System, as named by the venue, maker or trade press | Size | Where I would stand | Suits |
| fabric, Farringdon | Room One: Martin Audio, upgraded 2024, over a transducer floor. Rooms 2 and 3: NNNN Audio, April 2026 | Three rooms | On the Room One boards | Techno, house, drum and bass |
| Ministry of Sound, The Box | KV2 Audio: six SL412 tops flown in pairs front, middle and rear, 14 VHD subs | Main room; the refit added about 200 | Under the middle pair | House, disco, trance |
| Palais, Peckham | Funktion-One: ten BR118 subs, two BR121s, one BRF132 infra bass | 500 | Halfway back | Dub, bass music, deep house |
| FOLD, Canning Town | Four-point Funktion-One | Mid-size | Inside the four points | Hypnotic techno, long sessions |
| XOYO, Shoreditch | Void, expanded and recalibrated for January 2026 | 800 across two rooms | Basement, centre | House, UK garage, peak-time sets |
| Phonox, Brixton | Funktion-One, one dance floor | One room | Anywhere on the floor | One DJ, all night |
| E1 and Onyx, Wapping | Funktion-One in both clubs | 1,600 and 700 | Centre of the warehouse | Techno, hard techno, jungle, garage |
| Drumsheds, Meridian Water | d&b audiotechnik, extra bass and infrabass halfway down Room X | Around 15,000 | Anywhere; the back half now gets bass | Festival-scale house, techno, drum and bass |
Read the second column for the layout, not the badge. A DJ hears the number of points, the sub per person and the tuning long before the logo: four points put the same mix in every corner, while a stack at one end gives you a sweet spot and a crowd standing outside it.
The rooms the site has not compared yet
Palais, Peckham. The Night Group club on Rye Lane opened in February 2026 at 500 capacity. Co-founder Jamie Rule told Mixmag the club room has ten Funktion-One BR118 subs, two BR121s and a BRF132 infra bass, "which is pretty crazy for a space of this size", after nearly a year of testing. On paper that is more low end per person than anywhere else here. Palais against Coven, Club Cheek and Gaffe is in which new London club first.
XOYO, Shoreditch. Reopened on Saturday 31 January 2026 at 800 capacity, with the basement's Void system expanded and recalibrated rather than replaced; Kirk Allen, the new owner, said the club spent "20 grand on adding loads more speakers and amps". More boxes, better placed, is the right call for that room; the rebuild is in the Kirk Allen interview.
FOLD, Canning Town. Stamp the Wax described a four-point Funktion-One system in 2019. Four points means the mix is the same wherever you stand, which is what a long techno session needs.
Phonox, Brixton. The club promises "one dance floor, one great soundsystem (Funktion One) and DJs playing all night, or extended sets", and asks guests not to take photos. It is the simplest brief in London.
E1 and Onyx, Wapping. E1 holds 1,600 and runs Funktion-One; its 2018 launch spec was Evolution 6 mid-highs over 32-inch BR132 bass. Onyx, the 700-capacity club the same team opened on the site in September 2025, has a custom Funktion-One.

fabric and Ministry, briefly
The head-to-head is in fabric vs Ministry of Sound. fabric swapped more than 450 Bodysonic transducers under Room One for 36 Powersoft units in January 2025, and in April 2026 had NNNN Audio rebuild Rooms 2 and 3, with Room 3 subs that technical manager Matt Smith told RA "can wobble the concrete floor". Ministry reopened The Box on 30 January 2026 with a six-point KV2 system, a lowerable DJ booth that added about 200 capacity and Lucid Creates lighting, the first change to the room's system in fifteen years.
The big rooms, and the ones that are not open
Drumsheds runs d&b audiotechnik. For 2025/26 it added acoustic treatment to Room X and extra bass and infrabass halfway down the room, to lift the back half. It is a festival system in a building, and good at that; the Drumsheds 2026 guide has the season. Printworks has no reopening date at the time of writing (the tracker), and Corsica Studios closed in its current form at the end of March 2026. Up north, Mint XL in Leeds opened on 25 September 2026 with Funktion-One Vero for 2,500.
The verdict
fabric first, because no other London club has re-engineered three rooms inside two years and kept a floor you can feel. The Box second, and on a well-mixed house record possibly the cleaner room. Palais third, and first if your music lives under 60Hz. For which club suits which night, read FOLD vs fabric vs E1 vs Drumsheds. The better the system, the longer you stand in front of it, so read how loud a club is too.
