A DJ's view of the night the whole city goes out. ## NYE 2026 at a glance - **The date:** Thursday 31 December 2026 into Friday 1 January 2027. A weekday NYE, with the Friday a bank holiday, which makes New Year's Day events more viable than in a weekend year. - **Confirmed:** New Year's Eve: Defected + Glitterbox at The Warehouse Project, Depot Mayfield, Manchester, 20:00 to 04:00, with sign-up open on the WHP calendar ahead of the ticket release. Ministry's own listings showed its New Year's Eve, 21:00 to 05:00, and nothing on 1 January 2027. - **Not expected:** Drumsheds, whose AW26/27 season ends with Resistance on 5 December; Ironworks, whose first season ends on 1 November. - **The fireworks:** the Mayor of London's ticketed display on the Thames. 2025 tickets went on sale on 17 October 2025 at £20 and £35 for Londoners and £40 and £55 for everyone else; expect the 2026 sale in October. - **Transport:** normal fares apply on the network; the regular Night Tube runs on Fridays and Saturdays only, so on a Thursday NYE it is TfL's special late services on selected lines and buses, published in December, that get people home. New Year's Eve at The Warehouse Project is listed on the calendar for Thursday 31 December, in the Depot, billed as Defected + Glitterbox and taking sign-ups, as the closing night of the [20th-anniversary season](https://www.mneemo.com/blog/warehouse-project-2026-lineup-dates-guide/), with the line-up still to come. The December run before it, mapped in the December 2026 club calendar, is the strongest the series has had: Kneecap on 3 December, FAC51 The Haçienda on the 5th, Tiësto on the 11th, sold out, and [Silva Bumpa](https://www.mneemo.com/blog/silva-bumpa-quietly-took-over-uk-garage-sets/)'s Sterling in the Concourse on the 18th, sold out. If you are choosing between the cities for the night itself, Manchester has the advantage of a 4am finish beside Piccadilly and a building that does this every weekend; the whole case is in [Warehouse Project vs Drumsheds](https://www.mneemo.com/blog/warehouse-project-vs-drumsheds-2026/). ## What London did last year, and will do again London's clubs announce NYE late, usually between mid-October and late November, and the 2025 programme is the best guide to the shape of 2026. - **fabric.** New Year's Eve 2025 ran 21:00 to 07:00 with the world premiere of FJAAK and KiNK playing live together, Daniel Avery, Elli Acula, GiGi FM, Tapefeed, Livid and Jive Talk. That is the template: a ten-hour night, a headline live moment and the three rooms used properly. The 24-hour licence means fabric's is one of the London NYEs that runs into daylight, and it is the one I would book first when it goes on sale. - **Ministry of Sound.** NYE 2025 had Girls Don't Sync and Paul Woolford in The Box with Emerald and PRESTi, Jam House in 103, Talk Nice Sounds in The Loft and Joe NBO and Travis Casa in the Baby Box. Ministry ran New Year's Day last time: House of Peach took the club from 2pm to 10pm on 1 January 2026 with K-Klass, Seb Fontaine, Seamus Haji and Slipmatt, the recovery party for people who did not make it to bed. Nothing was listed there for 1 January 2027 at the time of writing. - **E1.** NYE 2025 in Wapping ran 21:00 to 07:00 with Sosa on a midnight set, Fleur Shore, Kidoo, Tough Love, Nick Spencer and Roxie Li, from £30 plus booking fee. For 2026 it has already listed NYE1, 22:00 to 06:00, line-up to come, with a £20 presale for sign-ups. In 2025 the first release went on sale at midday on 17 October via Ticketmaster, with a second release in late November, at £20 and £35 for people with a London postcode and £40 and £55 for everyone else, depending on the viewing area. The 2026 sale had not been announced when this was written; expect October, and expect the Londoner tiers to go within the hour. The fireworks matter to clubbers for one reason: they close the centre. Embankment, Westminster, Charing Cross and the stations around the viewing areas go exit-only or shut for hours either side of midnight, the roads across the river close through the evening, and a club night in the West End or on the South Bank on NYE means planning your route around a security perimeter. The east and north, where most of the big rooms are, are unaffected. ## Trains, fares and the midnight problem Two facts that get repeated wrongly every December. First, TfL has not run the old free-travel window on New Year's Eve in recent years; normal fares apply all night, so tap in and out as usual. Second, the Night Tube runs on Fridays and Saturdays only, but on NYE TfL adds special late services on selected Tube lines and buses to move the fireworks crowd, and 2026's Thursday will get the same treatment; the exact lines are published in December. The practical rule is the one for every big night in this city: know how you are getting home before you go out, and if the answer is a taxi at 4am on 1 January, budget for it, because the surge pricing on that one night is the worst of the year. ## How to do NYE without regretting it - **Buy in the first week.** NYE tickets are priced in tiers that climb faster than any other night, and the good rooms are gone by early December. When fabric, Ministry and E1 announce, that week is the cheap week. - **Decide midnight.** Every club engineers a midnight moment and every venue's doors are a wall at 23:30. Be inside by eleven or accept you will see the countdown in a queue. - **Pick the finish time, not the headliner.** A 4am Manchester finish, a 5am Ministry finish and a 7am fabric finish are three different nights. NYE is the one night the length matters more than the name. - **Consider New Year's Day instead.** With 1 January 2027 a Friday, the daytime recovery parties, the model Ministry's House of Peach used in 2026, are the better value and the better crowd for anyone who does not need the countdown. - **Eat, and start late.** Doors at nine, out at seven, is a long time.
